Government extends rationing to two more months
In Canberra on Monday the Federal Government announced butter and tea rationing will continue for at least another two months. Minister for Trade and Customs Senator O'Sullivan said current coupons gain eight weeks validity with double value. He expects no need for rationing beyond next year. Apexians' Bottle Drive Collects 27000 Bottles In Town
Wellington Apex Club members launched a bottle drive and collected 27 000 bottles by day’s end. Five trucks and crews covered sections of the town with a depot team counting bottles. The drive will continue in country districts next Sunday and spread to homesteads, with remaining town areas to be finished the following week. Donations totalled £1 18s 2d and proceeds to be shared by C W A Baby Health Centre and the club’s Railway Park playground project.
