Quiet wedding at St John’s Church England

A quiet pretty wedding took place on 20 April at St John’s Church of England as Alfred Merrell and Iris Corby were married by the Rev K D Norman. Iris wore magnolia satin with a wreath and veil, a gift from Grandma Cook, and carried a cream bouquet. Best man Mick Beasley. Bridesmaid Lue Cooper in pink frock. Reception at Mrs Whitehead’s. Couple honeymooning in Bathurst and Sydney.

Flowers At Wellington Show Impress Local Exhibitors

Wellington show drew large crowds with blooms across chrysanthemums dahlias rests guinea voids and marigolds. White Chrysanthemum White Louisa Pocket by Baden Nicholas topped the entries while Miss Rodna Wite and Mrs Trelly Smith earned praise in decorative classes. The Post Office gardens also showed well and the Yates Cup went to the section wind exhibitor.

Nature Notes of Koala Bird Song and Cherry Tales

In many districts the ecurkoo or rain bird warns of rain with its grave call while the jstarm-bird signals sultry weather. A thrush cheers dawn with cheerful sounds, and a leatherhead with a bare leathered head perches at the kitchen window. Old cherry groves feature boys in Kentish Red cherries and leatherheads feasting on fruit alike, with tastier juice in the past.
