The Wellington Citizens Band presented its final season recital at Cameron Park Rotunda last night before a large crowd, though seating shortages forced many to stand. Sydney visitors praised the band’s progress since reorganization, especially Emmet Howe’s drumming.

Rain adds half inch more as Wellington records week

A total of 0.52 inches of rain fell through the week ending at Wellington Post Office with much on Saturday. The Hardwick Cup cricket matches were washed out and will be replayed next Saturday. Junior Saturday morning games were abandoned. Temperatures cooled with a high around 78 and a low near 61, and the post office noted a 62 degree minimum today.

Irish National Concert Draws Full House and Praise

An Irish national concert attracted a capacity audience and earned high praise for the Sisters of Mercy trained pupils. Miss Lola Young accompanied by her sister, beside Norma McCarthy and Beryl Williams, dazzled as young violinists and vocalists under Mr. Huenen's PA system at the venue. The program featured solos, reels, and choruses, with stage decor by the Sisters and the community, concluding with the National Anthem.

Wellington Cricket Tourists Register Two Wins in Sydney

Wellington Baptist cricket team completed a short Sydney tour with two wins out of three matches. Forrest starred in two matches with 72 runs and 6 for 10, as Wellington beat Baptist Theological College in Fratten Park and Petersham in a second contest. The final match saw Wellington defeated by a Sydney Baptist ministers side, despite top scores from Hatten and Solomon, with Archer claiming six wickets.
