The Sydney wheat market opened strong with bulk parcels quoted at 4/44 and bulk tote at 15k peg. Prices covered eggs butter cheese honey maize millet and lucerne with ranges from 4/9 to 7/6 and onions 16/ to 21 per unit. Wheat and oats showed varied rates, while hay and other feeds ranged around 5/1 to 6/6.

Sydney reports a husband died at sea during a tour to the Rant aboard a Dutch liner bound for New Zealand. Davies of Coburg Victoria fell ill and died days later. his wife, also ill, was removed ashore to hospital in Brisbane after the ship reached port.

Prices in the stock market show dearer values as 2890 cattle were yarded. Bullocks ranged £6 to £16, cows £6 to £10, best beef up to 42s, good quality to 30s. Sheep and lamb prices also firm with wethers from 10s to 20s, ewes 9s to 17s, lambs 18s to 24s.

Heavy Falls Reported Across West After Patchy Storm

A violent storm last Thursday caused heavy rainfall and hail in parts of the west. Maryvale reported two inches with torrents and washouts on railways. Dubbo district saw one to two inches with damage to fences and roads. Cumnock endured severe rain with over two inches. near Gumnock four inches fell in minutes. Heath suffered injuries as a motor truck incident occurred during the downpour. some towns had no rain at all. Weather wrecked portions of the Bell River area and prompted emergency responses.
