New Hospital Urged as Wellington Presses Need
A 1943 Wellington meeting backed a new district hospital to replace an obsolete facility built in 1903. Speakers cited rising patients from 597 in 1932 to about 900 in 1943, demand for maternity and children wards, cubicle wards, and private and intermediate wards. They urged Commonwealth funding and highlighted public, town, and shire support plus the Ladies Auxiliary efforts.
