Stuart Town Anniversary Dance Fails to Impress
Cold southerly winds set the tone as Stuart Town held its annual anniversary fete in aid of the School of Arin Hall. The event drew a weak attendance last Friday, netting 10 pounds 47 shillings 18 pence, barely covering expenses. The committee faces a needed push to improve future finances. Also marked were the deaths of Mr B Thompson of Ive, aged 81, a familiar village figure, and Mr Torene Brady, long-time district landholder and noted charity supporter. Condolences extended to bereaved families. The hospital ball planned for Sunday is boosted by Mrs James Cameron who is arranging special refreshments to fill the hall to capacity. Last week Newton, from a local police force, reported the passing of his uncle.
