Cobbora Shire Council Will Raise No Objection to Division of Riding

At the monthly meeting the Cobbora Shire Council decided it would be futile to object to the proposed division of Riding A as previous objections yielded no results. The Wellington amalgamation was not discussed beyond a comment on Macquarie Regional Council’s stance. The Clerk reported funds in credit and ongoing half yearly balance. lists of electors will be prepared in two sections to ease boundary changes. Correspondence covered grants, school land resumption, ordinance amendments, animal impoundment fees, and loan arrangements including £6000 and £1800 for water works with permissions to refrain from loan rates.

Youth Convicted at Dubbo for Wellington Golf Club Theft

At Dubbo Police Court Walter James Gray a 19 year old labourer faced charges for stealing from the Wellington Golf Club on 28 May. He pleaded guilty and was released under section 556A of the Crimes Act to be of good behaviour for two years and bound over £10 to appear for sentence. He must also pay £2 1d within fourteen days.

Rain totals climb as showers continue this month

Rain added 20 points in short showers up to 9 this morning, lifting monthly total to 246 points and yearly total to 11.29 inches. Cold winds persist with a 59 degree high and 32 degree low recorded on Tuesday. The day remains cloudy with light showers and a forecast of unsettled weather and more rain.

The Scouts' Association will hold its quarterly meeting at the Scouts' Hall on Monday next, 21st inst., at 8 p.m. All interested are invited to attend. A table tennis club social follows at the Golden Key Cafe on Wednesday, 23rd July. Everyone is welcome.

Stock Yards ANOTHER FINE SALE Report from Wellington sale gains

Wellington Associated Agents ran another strong monthly sale at Macquarie Shire Yards on Tuesday with 5 300 sheep 70 cattle and some pigs sold. Local and outside buyers including Blayney and Orange attended as merino prices held while crossbred lambs and ewes drew good bids. Cattle were fewer and prices softer, sheep yarding totalled about 5800 with fats softer but merinos well sustained. Prices listed include fat crossbred lambs to 44/6 and merino wethers to 33/4, store sheep and hoggets quoted, and various notes from multiple agents on individual lots and prices.

Wellington residents including doctors and hospital staff appeal to Calare MP John Howse for extended night duty at the exchange.
