In a lengthy interview Mr. Dunn, Labour veteran and MP since 1910, traces three decades of service. He cites farm and irrigation reforms, soldier settler support, rural banks, and acts aiding farmers, plus programs boosting education and land policy. Also noted is Mr. Gordon Wilkins as the selected county party candidate for Mudgee.
A description outlines a new voting system under Secretary Harkn Inder. Electors may vote for one or more candidates as desired. If six names appear, a voter may select one, or any combination up to all six. A candidate must secure an absolute majority to win, defined as one vote more than half of total polled.
The Council of the C. Py re pured to platform and Mr. Butten shaw's policy speech will include new proposal for the modification of party Government. Other electoral reforms promised will embrace proportional representation, encouragement of price-work, rural industries to be eliminated from the operation of the Arbitration s Court, separation of railway finances from State debts by vesting same in an independent trusts, and all money raised from motor taxes to be spent on road.
A verse from the Mudgee Guardian July 4 issue satirizes Billy Dunn and Premier Lang. The piece imagines action to end Dunn’s influence, critiquing political positions with playful rhymes and local names.
