Shire employee killed in road accident

William Walter Trudgett age 45 of Farnham was killed when a Shire Counc truck driven by Ede Young of Wellington ran out of control on a steep hill. Both men jumped clear. Trudgett was run over by the rear wheels. The truck, carrying gravel, stopped after 180 yards. Young sustained bruises and shock and returned home. Constable Cooper leads inquiries.

Six succeed in first aid certificate exam

Six of eleven who recently obtained First Aid Certificates sat the voucher exam. Dr A Hodgkinson gave lectures and Supt Hubler supervised the practical. Those successful were John Bell Maxwell Bishop Leo Duff Alexander Frilegos Harold Johns George Ling.

Support for National Fitness continues

National Fitness fundraising progresses with a prize draw at Macquarie Theatre on Monday night. The event will award travel for two to Sydney and grandstand seats for two at the third Rugby League Test plus spending money. Auxiliary Gifts 300 For Hospitals Amenities

At a 16 member meeting presided by Mrs BD Walker the Auxiliary approved a gift of 300 pounds for hospital amenities. Accounts showed receipts and expenditures for the year ending June, with a credit balance of 1,045 pounds 7 shillings 1 pence. The group raised 468 pounds 9 shillings 2 pence, spent 475 pounds 2 shillings 9 pence, leaving 1,143 pounds 6 shillings 5 pence. They noted 38 financial members, praised officers, and discussed a proposed hospital resuscitator costing about 300 pounds and a Showground urn costing 88 pounds. The Board will receive 300 pounds for itemised amenities at both hospitals, with any surplus for future needs.

Ambulance Waggons Record Mileage In Past Year

The annual report of Superintendent H. J. Habler shows 1954 activity for ambulance waggons. 69 medical and surgical cases, 349 patients sought medical attention, 17,374 miles covered, and June alone saw 142 miles travelled with varied petrol, tyre, and repair costs. Overall travel cost per mile is noted, along with financial balances and loans at year start and end.
