Hotel robberies at Club Ayn Hotel Sunday night

Three robberies occurred at Club Ayn Hotel with two from parked cars and one from a hotel room. Items stolen belonged to hotel guests, totaling 285. Constable J J Marsh of Wellington Police led the investigation and anticipated an early arrest.

Wellington Man Bound Over For Attempted Bestiality

Daniel Bolton a 44 year old Wellington Municipal Council employee pleaded guilty at the Dubbo Quarter Sessions to attempted bestiality. He was bound over in a recognisance of £50 to be of good behaviour for three years, with the case heard before Judge Shortland on Tuesday.

Salvation Army Visit by Joshus Jones to Wellington

Lieut-Commissioner Joshus Jones Territorial Commander of the Salvation Army in Eastern Australia will visit Wellington on Monday July 12. He has headed MI Corps and vast relief and social work, including Homes for Mothers and Missing People, and will address a public meeting at 3 pm and a Salvation Army Hall gathering at 8 pm. Wellington hosted monthly stock sale amid strong prices

Pheré led a heavy yard of 450 cattle including 150 paddies at the Associated Agents sale in Wellington Tuesday with prices strong and buyers active. About 2,500 sheep were penned with fats high and stores competitive. Notable cattle quotes included fat bullocks to £38 16s, steers to £16 16s, bulls to £20 3s, vealers £14 18s, cows £9 1s to £13, and stores around £16 8s. Sheep featured crossbred woolly lambs to 68s 10d and merino wethers about 41s 1d, with various lines from Gowan Green stud and Border Leicester ewes. Two consecutive mornings in Wellington saw the heaviest frosts in two years with lows at 25 degrees. The prior record was 24 degrees on August 22, 1946.
