Wellington approves bitumenising main streets plan
Wellington Municipal Council last Thursday approved a two year programme to bitumenise about 34 miles of main streets at an estimated cost of £2700. Supplies are ordered and a power grader is expected to speed the work. The plan is financed from revenue accumulated over three years. Total length 17,868 feet and total cost £2,823 9s 6d including 10 per cent for emergencies. Also approved: pound yards at the depot for £57, and a yardman storeman. a survey for Sections 1 and 2 by Young Carpenter and McSenzie.
