Swimming Events and Wellington Club Notes

The Wellington Swimming Club held events yesterday with swimmers competing in various distances from 40 to 1000 yards. Noel Sutton led the 40 yard sprint, followed by Bill Crossley and Ito Browne. a meeting also welcomed new committee members R. F. Ross and F. Goodwin. A later carnival drew a crowd as Pat Pelmer won the 50 yards championship in 28 seconds, with Enel Jones taking diving second and WE Rich claiming diving honors.

Tug Ashore Near Tweed Heads Leaves Vessel Crippled

A boat named Murwitfunbub tige went ashore on the northern breakwater at Tweed Heads and is now a total wreck. The vessel struck rocks after the wave beat against her side and sank. The crew reached shore with a lifeline amid the peril.

Unconscious Woman Found Beside Home After Blow

A 40 year old woman known as Louise Josephine Wine, found outside her Lange Ley Boat Sydney home bleeding from a forehead wound. Police traced a blood trail to the bedroom and believe she was attacked in bed. A hammer and tyre Fever were found nearby and men detained. The woman is in serious condition.

The Month's Mind in memory of the late Right Rev Monsignor Lang was held at 3. Patricla Church with a solemn Requiem Mass. Bishop of Bathurst Right Rev Norton presided, and about 84 priests attended from across the West. After the ceremony, the bishop and visiting priests were entertained at dinner at the Convent by parish ladies.
