Two prominent New South Wales figures pass away. Sydney, a former cabinet minister, and Weed, Loxton KC, long served in the state parliament. Their deaths are announced as the weekend news notes their long political careers.
Weishinie 22 year old Robert Harris of Cair, a respected glider builder and pilot, died after his self crafted craft plunged from 150 feet while performing a trial flight. Harris, a Bennison waterminer and jeweller, was renowned for his glider expertise and four years of experimentation before the fatal accident near Wellington.
Extraordinary two day episode saw a boy pulled from rough surf at Manly on Saturday and again yesterday, helped ashore on a surfboard after lifeguards used the lifeline.
