Thursday, Leslie McDonald, 27, died in great agony at the Sydney Hospital after telling a police officer he had taken poison. He had been treated 12 weeks for thyroid trouble said to have caused melancholy. A glass containing iodine and nitroprussic acid was found nearby.
Police doubled guard on the Melbourne wharf fearing clashes between demonstrators and the Italian cruiser crew led by Riamondo Montecaccoli as a meeting followed an alleged attack on Trafiun Ottavio Friga Clan e. The protest urged a government apology, compensation, and to bar future Fascist warship visits to Australia.
In Sydney on Thursday an Australian Woolgrowers Council meeting heard Mr Hock MSP propose that the Dominion fix a minimum price on wool for the future. Australian, New Zealand, and South African growers will discuss in London mid year. The move aims to prevent further sacri ficial low prices tied to the season.
