An application was made today to the Full Bench of the Industrial Commission to reinstate Henry Willard, an inspector who was demoted to track foreman after the July derailment of the Cobar mail near Lithgow. Counsel argued the action was unjustified and unlawful, while Mr. Bradley for the Commissioners contended the Commission had no jurisdiction to grant an individual employer award. The case is progressing.

Sheep 24,000 penned, market very lively. Wether 12/ to 27/-, ewes 10/- to 24/-, lambs 10/- to 23/5, shorn sheep 8/- to 17/.
The Eastwood Municipal Council on its first night suspended electricity engineer Joseph Welsh over remarks to Aldermen. The council agreed to hold a Local Government Department inquiry to ensure complete evidence is available.
The first Australian anthrax case in 13 years occurred in Warwick, Queensland. A 19 year old butcher is receiving treatment and a close watch is kept on the patient as officials monitor the unusual outbreak in the country.
The social services conference opened in Melbourne with representatives from all states and the Commonwealth. Minister Marr noted that for the year to June 1933 Australia spent £16,000,000 on social services, a charge of £2 8s 6d per person.
