Anzio Beachhead Holds Against Weather and Attacks

Allied forces in the Anzio Beachhead area faced severe weather as they fight to save the position. Reports from Algiers suggest the front remains largely unchanged, with attacks slackening yet potentially due to poor conditions. The beachhead spans fourteen miles by eight, with American forces at the southern end and British at the north. Americans repulsed a southwest assault from Cisterna while the British regained minor ground. The beachhead is described as secure despite losses, and authorities say at least one major offensive was thwarted.
