National Fitness Triumph Over Anglicans in Sat Cricket Camp

National Fitness led by Dodd and Bloomfield posted 290 in the first innings, Stanford and Dodd contributing strong partnerships. Anglicans replying collapsed with Bell and Bloomfield securing key wickets as Tech College failed to chase, High School winning by 24 runs in the 1st innings.

Wellington cyclist Daley set for Australian titles in Hobart

Local rider George Daley, selected for the State team after strong showings at the Bubba titles, heads for Hobart on February 25 to contest the Australian Championships. Funds were raised quickly at a Wellington Cycling Club meeting with more donations from Dubbo and Orange spectators and local clubs.

Licensing Court Refuses Transfer Of Grand Hotel License

In Wellington Licensing Court on Thursday Magistrate R. Kershy refused the transfer of the Grand Hotel license to Domn e Abee Crittenden wife of licensee Peter Crittenden. Sergeant J B Keany for police opposed the move noting Mrs Crittenden has a beneficial interest in the Goaluis Hotel. Mr Be McCormack, for Mrs Crittenden, argued the transfer would rely on private means and her husband would have no stake. The court adjourned briefly before dismissing the application as novel and unsupported.

Wyangala National Park Trust Meets at Cowra

The Minister for Lands Mr Sheahan and Minister for Conservation My Weir will attend the inaugural meeting of the Trust for the Wyangala National Park in Cowra today. The Trust will oversee more than 1000 acres of recreation reserves to develop camping, hiking tracks, roads, and buffer plans to protect timber and dam catchment, with members from local councils and departments. The park is planned as a major recreation and tourism area, with potential expansion to Bartending Data area after dam completion.

Three Months on Vagrancy Charge Wellington Court

In Wellington Police Court this morning Bernard Monagan, an aboriginal man with a long record, was found guilty of vagrancy and sentenced to three months hard labour. Constable L J Myryh testified Monagan had no fixed abode and begged from passersby in Wellington Street. The magistrate Mr Kersley noted insufficient evidence and discharged the defendant on other charges.
