Messrs Gea Baul and A Wilkine and Co announce a local stock sale of sheep and cattle at the Wellington valley yards on the forthcoming Saturday the ird at 2.00 pm. Strong buyers and steady prices expected in a well advertised rural sale.
Messrs A Wilkins and Co offer an auction of Mr A A Harvey items before he leaves the district. The sale covers the entire household furniture and effects at his Maxwell residence, concluding on Saturday 15th February.
A notice lists multiple property sales on February 20 and 21 including furniture from a Westmonday household, real estate on Warne Street and Monce-Mores Street, and an allotment corner of Lee and Monce streets. Keith McWilliams and Pilot Collibee survived a dramatic forced landing after engine trouble forced their plane to plunge into heavy surf at Cronulla. They clung to the rudder as the craft sank, later freed by a surf boat and brought ashore, with Collibee quickly returning to flight.
The Lithgow Small Arms Factory Swimming Club carnival was postponed with only championship events decided. Wellington team dominated action led by J Lay and R McCormicks, winning the President's Cup and 440 yards Western District Championship. Bathurst and Lithgow athletes, including G Chaney and Billy Kendall, also excelled in junior events and sprint demonstrations.

A body of an unknown man was found in a rowing boat in Middle Harbour yesterday. He lay across the craft with his head and shoulders over the side, under water. Police indicate death was due to drowning.
A 15 foot high cloudburst swept down Rock Creek washing away a 400 foot bridge on the Copmanhurst road, carried it 100 yards downstream. In political circles the relation between Mr Weaver the Minister for Health and his colleagues dominates talk. A special Cabinet meeting was convened for Monday to consider the issue, but no decision or action has been made. Mr Weaver was reported absent from the city this morning.
In Homebush yarding volumes, 4100 cattle and 44,000 sheep were handled. Cattle prices mostly fell with slight gains for good quality stock. bullocks £25 to £24,70, cows £8 to £8, ext beet day/-. Sheep prices unchanged: ewes 10? to 17s, lambs 10s to 28s 7d.
An electric train from Ringwood Victoria ran away and crashed into a stationary train at Proyden. The two crew members and a motor man on the stationary train were injured as several carriages were wrecked. Damage is estimated at about £26000 and an inquiry will determine the cause.
It is understood that before the Prime Minister Mr Lyons leaves for England next week the Federal Cabinet will report banking and monetary problems and systems. It is believed that Douglas Credit will be among the systems examined as part of a royal commission inquiry urged by supporters who want wealth measured by production rather than monetary tokens.
William Ewart who faced trial for attempting to murder Robert John McGuffick has been certified insane by Crown Law authorities and no further proceedings will be taken. The Cooma police noted the discharge of the case following the insanity ruling.
A Sunday working bee by volunteers for the Amalgamated Show and Sporty Ground boosted trotting track preparations at the west ground. Helpers listed include E Don, S Stevens, J M Whiteley, W Busch, C Payne, R Walsh, Micky Walsh, K Drew, Jim Drew, Dan Drew, W Rourke, A Lowe, A Garnsey, Mickey Fernance, and 4 T Powlett. The committee hopes for a timely secretary return and plans another bee next Sunday with teas and attractions to engage volunteers. The Wellington Cycle Club may join with an event for workers only in the near future.
Billy Kendall, Australian sprint champion, swam 50 yards at Neweasde in 2 15 wees, claimed as the fastest ever by an Australian. The previous best was A Wickham at 23 28 for 50 yards.
Dr Earle Page challenged Mr Lang at the Dubbo conference, saying the government did not agree to export restrictions but allowed regulation of meat supplies for January to March to lift prices for Australian producers. No permanent or enforced restriction was declared, only regulation to aid producers.
Severe hailstones during the weekend caused extensive damage in the Chipping Norton district near Liverpool. A prominent farmer estimates losses at 1900 pounds, with others suffering substantial but smaller percentages of destruction across their grape crops.
