Saleyards dues revised at Parkes conference

The New South Wales Parkes conference on stock sales recommends uniform saleyards charges within a radius of Parkes. Councils would set a uniform scale, with charges based on selling price for cattle and other stock. Parkes Council favored applying the Cudgegong Shire/Mudgee method, while Dudgerone’s rates were not adopted.

Inquest On Drowning Finds Accidental Death

The District Coroner ruled the death of John Neil Bowhay 28 of Yeoval accidental by drowning at Enola Dam on a Saturday. Witnesses Kevin Bowhay and Kenneth O’Dea testified about alcohol and the events at the dam, with Bowhay describing the water as deep and the body later recovered after a search. Medical officer Dr RM Glassen stated no external injuries and signs consistent with drowning. The deceased’s family solicitor noted no life insurance and incomplete knowledge of finances.

Wellington Court Fines For Offensive Behaviour At Morning Hearing

A Borrendong Dam worker was fined £2 for insulting words. Two Wellington cake proprietors and two fellow workers were fined £1 1s each for offensive behaviour. Ronald Owens Neville Rolands and Ronald Lyons faced charges after a disturbance at The Hollywood Date last Saturday. Owens received £3 or four days hard labour.
