Assault charge amid robbery case at Quarter Sessions

Hedley Gideon aged 30 William Thomas Dillon 27 and John Thowes McQuallen 26 pleaded not guilty at the Quarter Sessions today on a charge of assaulting Constable Harold Alfred Beasley and robbing him of 8 shillings. Beasley testified Dillon restrained him while the others searched his pockets and Dillon later returned two threepence claiming they were for tram fare home. The case continues.
