Wellington Municipal Council Sees Talks on Road Work and Public Amenities

Wellington Municipal Council met in the Goanril chambers with Alds We Rose mayor G Harvey Cartwright Whiteley Devines Wilkins Ryan present. The body discussed road works delays due to rain, a scope change for the retorts at gasworks, hospital water concerns, public conveniences at Rygate Park, and agreed to hold the next meeting on January 8 with committees formed to oversee works, building, health, parks and sports.

Sound financial position at T and G Mutual Life Society

Melbourne reports the fifty fourth annual meeting of the T and G Life Society. Managing Director T Thompson presided as the chairman announced new business totaling 142 188 policies with 12 018 702 pounds insured. Other figures include 1 008 personal accident policies, 721 750 pounds, 965 ordinary department policies, and 1 134 985 pounds in accident benefits. Total income 3 856 025 pounds. policyholder payments 1 507 280 pounds. Assets 16 068 017 pounds. Investment policy favors high security with mean pond interest 2 5 173 percent per annum. Liabilities valuation shows sound position. policyholder returns may be taxed more later. The meeting concluded with appreciation for officials.
