High School Speech Night Prizes Awarded at Dubbo

Times Holidays Closure to January 8 1948

The Times bi weekly publication will suspend after next Monday’s issue until Thursday January 8 1948. Four issues will be missed and a skeleton office will handle business on non holiday days. Alterations and improvements to plant will proceed to enhance service in 1948.

Railway Gardens prize to Wellington for sixth year

Mr and Mrs Bert Chap Rell of the Wellington Railway Refreshment Rooms have been notified that their garden at the railway station won the first prize for New South Wales in 1947 station gardens competition. This is the sixth year running the Wellington garden has secured the state award under their management.

Magistrate Delivers Leniency in Wellington Juvenile Case

In Wellington at the Petty Sessions, James Robert Maykin, superintendent of the Once Upon Time Boys Home in Sydney, sought custody for a boy charged with two counts of stealing from Jensen’s Radio Shop. The magistrate placed the youth under Maykin’s care for two years with good behavior, plus £6 compensation at five shillings per fortnight.
