In Alex ity yesterday morning Mrs. N. Ryan aged 78 was burned when her dress caught fire while lighting a lamp. Her son James Ryan and daughter Mrs. Vickery were injured while trying to help. She was taken to hospital and died three hours after admission.
A mother and her two sons, Ronald Henigan 22 and Kenneth Henigan 5, were hurt when a motor cycle and a car they rode in with their mother were sandwiched between two cars on Newcastle Road at Beralia. Ronald suffered multiple fractures and head injuries. Kenneth had concussion and minor head injuries. the mother sustained minor injuries. Ronald, who was driving, had his legs caught in the wheels. Kenneth and Mrs Henigan were thrown to the road.
Two armed men held up Leonard Prosser at a Malvern service station during the weekend. One man leveled an automatic pistol at the manager, while the other took 22 pounds. Police arrived soon after but failed to trace the robbers. Authorities hope to arrest them.

The rider behind Watts attempted to overtake a car, resulting in a head on collision. The accident occurred near the town ground during a district event, and Wallace’s mother is widow after the husband’s death months earlier.
