Flour Tax Upheld in State Parliament Bid to Remove Tax

Premier Stevens announced plans to introduce a bill in Parliament to drop the New South Wales flour tax of 30s a ton starting December 1. He argued the federal levy of 4s 5d a ton would raise baking costs by about £2 15s per ton and lift bread prices by at least a penny per loaf, with other states affected as well.
