Mrs Eleanor Hunger was attacked by an Alsatian dog as she returned home, suffering bites to her leg and hand before the animal fled. The Commonwealth Government will allow direct import of American and other foreign aircraft into Australia. Two girls Margaret Joyce Clarke aged 13 and Clarke aged 10 drowned while bathing at Elwood Beach due to strong undertow yesterday. Rescue attempts failed. On the same day two other children died in Victoria Brian Furyn aged 7 in the River Yarra and a boy Evans aged 1 in a dam at South Gippsland.
