Anzac Dawn Service Draws Big Wellington Crowd

A large crowd gathered for a dawn Anzac service in Wellington. The procession, led by the Wellington Citizens Band and returned servicemen, included youth groups and scouts. wreath laying followed prayers, a band tribute to Chopin, and a religious service led by Rev B A Walsham. Colonel Barton urged dedication to duty and Christ, ending with hymns and prayers.

Record crowd enlivens band festival with visits and praise

Concord and Parramatta bands arrived Saturday, were billeted by locals, and paraded to the council chambers for a welcome by Shire President Dr Knowles. The day included a civic luncheon, scenic trip to Wellington Caves, and performances by Wellington and other country bands at the showground, drawing large crowds and high praise for fellowship and organization.

Notable Visitors Highlight Band Festival Arrangements

Notable visitors joined the Band Festival as Parramatta Band members J Dale and Albert Leabeater celebrated fifty years with the Parramatta Band. The Ballarat contest crowned M Porter of Concord Band as euphonium solo champion, while Wellington Blayney and Mudgee bands drew applause for their performances. Organiser G I Irwin praised public support and the festival’s success.
