perilous voyage after ship Resistance explosion
An Irish seaman Thomas Scott recounts the 1768 disaster of the Resistance, blown up near Timor. Survivors built a raft, endured three nights at sea, and faced Malay pirates off Sumatra and Lingan. Scott, rescued and traded among Rajahs, is eventually ransomed and sent to Penang and Lingan.
