Remembrance of a Devout Macclesfield Pastor Dies
The aged pastor of the New Church in Macclesfield, John David Simpson aged 54, died after a long ministry of over 30 years. A respected preacher and benefactor, he built the New Church with Charles Roe Esq and served with steadfast devotion to the welfare of congregants, irrespective of sect. His death follows the loss of his wife, and his funeral drew a vast crowd as public prayer and mourning paid tribute to his charitable life and enduring faith.
