Master Clarke at the Haymarket Impresses Crowd

The new five act play Master Clarke by Mr. Serle opened at the Haymarket last night. Macready and Helen Faucit starred with strong support. the plot follows Richard Cromwell facing army and parliament troubles and a perilous flight, ending in pardon for Cromwell and the conspirators’ defeat. The audience cheered, the author was called for, and the company stayed to quell curious spectators.
