Captain Willism Richardson chairman of the Tenbury Worcester and Ludlow Railway Company was arrested on a forged check case. The July check for ten pounds was altered to five thousand pounds with two other directors signatures. Bankers and police traced the notes and money transfers, leading to Richardson’s remand and extensive evidence from Coutts Bank and the Bank of England. The trial continued with testimonies from directors, bankers, and police, and further hearings scheduled as key witnesses were unavailable.

Fire devours large Camden town house in Great College Street

A major blaze destroyed a newly erected house on Great College Street Camden town, builder Mr. Crouch owning the property. The fire spread rapidly through inflammable timber from floor to roof. Fire brigades from parish engines and London units battled flames but the building burned out, sparing all other adjacent houses except one. Mr. Crouch sustained injuries in the Phoenix Fire ctfire incident.
