The Cornelia Burned Rumor Stirs Goree Town
Mr Grimshaw denies the burning and loss of the packet ship Cornelia after rumors spread by a pamphlet sold for half a penny. The story claimed 400 passengers from the Great Britain era and described ships and misprinted printer names, causing public alarm. Authorities traced the fictitious imprint to a fraudulent Liverpool pamphlet.
