Stormy sea wrecks two schooners near Girdleness harbour
In Scotland between six and seven am a gale and heavy rain drove two schooners and a sloop toward Aberdeen’s harbour. One schooner, the Logie o' Buchan, reached port, but the other, the George and Mary, and the sloop were driven ashore. A boy of about thirteen was swept overboard from the sloop. The Prussian vessel Aurora also grounded off Don Mouth after a firestorm in Inverness damaged Hamilton Place and Inglis Street, with extensive property losses and distressed occupants.
