Paris Intelligence Notes on Morran Republic and French Election
The Paris papers report Morran declaring itself a Republic seeking France’s protectorate. A Guadeloupe election seats a Black representative and another two Black and two Mulatto officials are elected. Market odds fall ten per cent amid talk of paper money mortgage notes. Austria’s Italian stance heightens war fears while finances strain. Debates over President election split between universal suffrage and Assembly choice. Predictions point to a heated Assembly debate in Mandsy.
