Robbery and Murder Attempt Near Waterless Grook
A traveling Manchester man, Francis M Gill, was attacked near Pickmere en route to Tabley Windmill. John Wright, once Shannon’s traveler, felled him with a shot and stole cash and a purse. Wright was chased to Northwich, arrested, and found with 27 sovereigns, a purse, a dagger, gunpowder and caps. M Gill survived initially but remained in danger. Wright’s motives linked to Shannon and M Gill’s rounds. Depositons to follow as Wright is remanded until Tuesday week.
