The Injured Re-dressed in Paris Narrow Escape
A young Parisian woman, in tattered clothes, sought help from M. L, a Parisian attorney, claiming abuse by her husband M. de R. She feared death if not aided and sought separation with support from the tribunal. He sheltered her briefly, supplied clothing, then she left with her belongings. He later learned her husband is wealthy and his other wife content.

Fire on Florentia in London docks averted by quick work
Tuesday afternoon two separate fires broke out aboard the Florentia in the London docks caused by a boy's carelessness who lit a deck fire under the topgallant forecastle and left a varnish pot to heat. Workmen on the jetty extinguished the blaze before serious damage. The ship bound for Sydney with emigrants, will depart soon. Also reports an inquest into James Comber's drowning at Nine Elms Battersea, a body found near Blackfriars, a drowning of Charles Foster, and a 1840 custody table with occupation counts and literacy levels showing crime links to education. Weather notes record a sudden temperature rise in London up to 98 in sun.
