Extraordinary petition on religious ceremony for death penalty
A rochdale petition from about two thousand inhabitants asks that when the state executes life taken under law it be done as a religious ceremony by a state church clergyman, arguing decorum and solemnity. Irish legislation and Three and a Half per Cents are discussed along with army duelling, pensions, and public notices.
