Imaginative Sketch of Paris During The Fall of the King

A witness describes the chaotic crowd at the Place du Carrousel as ranks surge, weapons appear in odd forms, and civilians mingle with soldiers. Boulevards fill with cries, the King abdicates in favor of the young Count of Paris, and Bugeaud leads a perilous advance.

Financial crisis in France sparks debt, loans, and royal assets sale

The Paris government rejects a broad petition to extend due bill payments. Minister Gargier Pages explains public credit and state assets, including crowns, forests, and diamonds, will be liquidated or repurposed to fund finances with a 100 million loan proposed. The piece notes the abolition of imprisonment for debt and broader social unrest as Omnibus wages and rents stir protests.

Paris National Funeral Procession and Republic Heraldry

Lively Paris pageantry as two patriot bands march in the Boulevards for a state funeral. Processions of the National Guard and journalists follow a ceremonial car, with crowds waving, banners, and coins tossed to aid the wounded. A royalist fear and political notes accompany the vivid scene.

Tagus Fleet Ordered to Cork and Boiler Explosion Verdicts

The Tagus Fleet under Bir C. Napier is ordered to Cork. An adjourned inquest into the Blue Pitts boiler explosion that killed four young men heard that the boiler operated at pressures beyond its design. Evidence showed stays added in 1843 and prolonged use at eighteen inches. The jury returned verdicts that the deaths resulted from the burning boiler and that two stays were cut at the time of the blast, while the boiler was never meant to endure such pressure.
