Silvers from China reach the British Mint in London
A convoy of five waggons with 20 tons of Chinese silver, valued at 750,000 dollars, arrived at Nine Elms and was escorted to the royal mint. The 425 lumps, shaped like egg halves, were stored as part of a larger shipment totaling nearly 2,000,000 dollars. Officials expected further consignments and noted no immediate resale orders from the treasury.
