Provisional Government Proclaims Republic in Paris

A sweeping Paris upheaval ends royal rule as Lamartine and Crémieux lead a Provisional Government. The Republic is proclaimed, public order restored, and decrees vow death penalty abolition for political offences, national workshops established, and a mobilized National Guard to defend the capital. Major figures and street scenes accompany a fervent civic uprising.
