Pleas of Insanity and Criminal Responsibility debate

It critiques medical versus legal views, noting cases where mental state influenced punishment while asserting many murderers are not exempt from penalties.
Commission of Lunacy Ends For Henry Sparrow at Crown and Anchor
A two day inquiry before Commissioner Phillimore and associates at the Crown and Anchor, Strand, terminated a lunacy commission on Henry Weir Sparrow, elder son of the late James Gooding Sparrow. Sparrow, born 1319, shown deep melancholy and imbecility since youth, was brought in by keeper, refused speech, and jurors ruled him of unsound mind. He has resided under family governess care, with an estate valued above 600 pounds a year bequeathed to him by his father, all of which was left to Miss Danivlis, the governess.
