Pegasus steamer wreck with fifty lives lost in storm
Latest intelligence reports the Hull and Leith steamer Pegasus totally wrecked off Forfarshire near the Fern islands after a night of gales. Fifty people drowned, four survivors including the engineer and two crew, as crews and coast guards searched wreckage and bodies. The vessel, a five year old craft of 180 to 200 tons, operated Hull to Leith and Aberdeen under Captain Brown.
