Remembered Liberal Byng One of Middlesex’s Long-Serving MPs

A Morning Chronicle tribute recalls Mr. Byng’s half-century in the House of Commons, his consistent liberal stances, and his popularity in Middlesex. The article notes his early Whig ties, enduring attendance despite illness, and his celebrated 1837 Middlesex speech urging justice for Ireland, ending with the vow to “die in harness.” It highlights his frank character, charitable works, magistrate duties, and the lament at his passing.
