Fires in the Metropolis

A series of fires across Lambeth and surrounding areas devastates factories and homes, with extensive engines and water supplies deployed. Major blazes at J Clifton and Co brown stone works and Ogleby and Co tallow works caused heavy damage though some operations were saved. Other fires occurred at Trinity street, Cromwell house, Maude’s Battersea mills, Salomon in Gunsquare, Lampriel’s Caledonian road, Great Northern Railway yard near Holloway, and local schools and shops. Authorities determine origins unclear in several cases while insurance covers losses. Donato injunction ruling dissolves. Donato to perform at Covent Garden.
