London Parish Clerks Report on Christenings and Burials
The company of parish clerks presents dec 11 1841 to dec 13 1842 numbers for London churches showing 16 245 christenings 7 651 males 7 591 females 18 142 burials 6 512 males 5 600 females. Many parishes failed to report and unknown causes exceed 6 000 due to loss of searcher records. The statement criticizes the clerks and calls for reform.
