The Lord Mayor handles Tom Crow a mixed case at the market with burglary, deception and a claimed cooking defense. Crow admits market dealings but denies stealing fish and is remanded to Bridewell for a month amid ridicule and crowd reaction.

Curious Greenwich Railway Delights Londoners With Novel Cars

Curiosity draws crowds to the Tue Loxpond and Greenwich Railway opened last week by the Lord Mayor. Six engines run every half hour, some trains using right hand rails to Deptford and others left hand rails returning. Fares range from sixpence to ninepence with varied carriage designs. The Deptford end serves as depot for extra engines, with a large shed and cast iron roof for passengers. Also notes the death of Rev. Dr. Rippon after sixty three years as pastor and a water supply incident in Haymarket ending with discovery of a four foot eel in a main pipe. Reports on Mehemet Ali’s succession claims and Swabian Mercury speculation.
