Thames Office Robbery and Polish Refugee at London Court
A London magistrate presided for the first time on remand as Edward Lock alias Lockley alias Laughton faced charges of breaking from Martin and Co linen drapers in Whitechapel and stealing £97 in cash and notes. The cash box was later found opened with the gala and some securities missing while all papers remained, and Lock had former employment with the firm. In another scene Count de Jab Dembicki, Polish refugee cousin to the late King of Poland and Duke of Lorraine, sought aid to emigrate to America. Magistrate Yardley declined, saying funds were for general destitution relief, not individual pleas, and the applicant withdrew.

Biter and Butter Market Trick Amid courtlike aftermath
A London market scene recounts a vendor briefly swapping a half crown into a light pound to cheat weight in a butter sale. A nearby soldier exposed the ruse, leading to a sharper confrontation over the misdeed and the thumping caution that follows in such petty frauds.
Newfoundland Fish Fights Off Dog in Sea Near Fortrene
A Newfoundland dog near Avoch and Fortrene chased a five foot sharklike fish in the sea. The dog held the tail as the fish leapt and both submerged, then surfaced and the dog dragged the fish ashore. The diver notes the creature measured about five feet. Delays a tourist carriage near Galway end with a comic exchange about stopping point.
