Geological discovery in Natchez may push back human origins
A private Philadelphia letter claims Dr. Dickeson exhumed a fossil human femur 100 feet deep near Natchez Mississippi. At a Philadelphia meeting experts including Agassiz and Morten reviewed the specimen, dating it with megatherium remains and pondering the era it implies, though some doubt remains.
