Conspiracy and Clash in Paris and English Chartist Trials

A lengthy report recounts alleged plots in Paris May and June insurrections with Caussidiere Ledru Rollin and Blanqui amid police plots and secret meetings. It parallels English Chartist conspiracies with arrests and indictments of forty six Chartists and Confederates in Liverpool Manchester Ashton and Brabourne, detailing bail, interrogations, and raids on clubs, stores, and homes.

The Chartists and Irish Confederates Meet at South London Hall

A large gathering of Chartists and Irish Confederates convened by the National Charter Association met at the South London Chartist Hall in Webber Street Blackfriars Road. Delays occurred as leaders were absent and the secretary and treasurer were in custody. Hogden spoke nearly three hours warning against seditious language at public meetings and urging that Charter principles remain central. Police precautions were noted as government efforts to prevent disturbances continued. A separate case involved John Shaw at the Mansion House charged with attending an unlawful meeting and using seditious language, with trial proceedings detailed by government witnesses and police.
