Reform Bill Debates and Patronage Controversy at Westminster
Long session notes depict speeches on tariffs and customs costs, the Small Debts Bill, and heavy emphasis on patronage in the new courts bill. Lords and Commons clash over salaries, district counts, and compensation while Lord Lyndhurst and Lord George Bentinck exchange sharp accusations of covert patronage and political manipulation.

Poisonous berry seller in Cambridgeshire court case
John Hilliard, an elderly Cambridgeshire herb gatherer, faced Themes police court on remand for allegedly selling poisonous berries laced with atropa belladonna to Thomas Parker and three year old Samuel Jones. Parker died after eating the berries. Jones also died after hospital treatment. Widow Parker testified she bought the berries as nettle berries. Defense asserts berries were safe. Court adjourned the case to next week.
