Fraud case exposes deception by Fletcher and partners
In a London trial, Joshua Fletcher and Georgiana Corey were found guilty of a wide scheme of forgeries and fraud linked to the Slack family stock. William Barber, William Saunders, and Lydia Saunders were convicted on related charges. Sentences: Fletcher and Barber to transport for life, Saunders to seven years, Lydia Saunders and Georgiana Dorey to two years imprisonment. The court noted the defendants’ social standing worsened their culpability and hinted at possible royal pardons or further prosecutions.

Manic son attacks family in Epping neighborhood
William Cook, a young man from a Thoydon Garnon farm area, attempted to murder his mother, father, and two sisters on a Wednesday night. The mother escaped after severe blows, the father fled in shirt, and the two sisters aged four and sixteen were badly hurt. A county police officer found the son by a pond claiming he had killed his sisters Eliza and Anne. Doctors say the elder child is gravely injured, the youngest may recover, and the son is deemed insane and held in custody at Epping union house.
